Senior Nutrition Services
SNS has been providing hot meals in Sacramento County since 1974; currently preparing and delivering 900 meals a day to congregate dining centers and over 1,700 meals per day to homebound seniors. SNS employs 20 County drivers and 150 volunteers to deliver meals 5 days a week.
The daily contact reduces the isolation experienced by many seniors who live alone. In addition to delivering the hot meal, the drivers are responsible to assure that the participant’s personal health and home environment is safe. SNS serves as an important link between the homebound senior and other community resources and services.
