Medical Services

Access to quality health care for every eligible child and adult

Background

Access to quality health care for every eligible child and adult is a fundamental goal of the Department of Human Assistance.

County Medically Indigent Services Program (CMISP)

The CMISP program provides medically necessary care to all eligible indigents who are residents of Sacramento County.

All recipients of General Assistance (GA) are automatically eligible for CMISP Clinic Services. Other persons who need to apply for CMISP may do so at the time they request medical services.

Medi-Cal and Healthy Families programs

The Medi-Cal and Healthy Families programs provide no-cost or low-cost health insurance for adults who are aged (65 years or older), blind, disabled, pregnant, or in a long-term facility; for children who are under 21 years of age; or for families with children who receive CalWORKs and/or are deprived of support or care because at least one of their parents is unemployed/underemployed, absent, deceased, or incapacitated.
